Thursday's Questions

Howzit.  So every Thursday I come out with what I like to call "Thursday's Questions".  It is usually about going out the night before, getting hammered, blacking out, bringing a girl home, throwing up, spraying shaving cream in my mouth (cause I can't find the toothpaste at my friend's house) and then asking the next day, "what the hell happened last night?"  However, since I didn't go out last night and I need to blog about something, I will ask my top five questions about recent and upcoming sporting events.  So...without further adieu, I give you Aidan's Thursday's Questions.

Question the first:  Is it part of the curse that the Cubs have to play the hottest team in baseball in the first round?

The Dodgers handed the Cubs their lucky number seventh playoff loss in a row.  And all this without the help of Steve Bartman.  The Dodgers knocked Cub pitching ace Ryan Dempster out of the game after 4.2 innings.  Dempster capped off a wild game by giving up a grand slam to James Loney in the fifth.

On the other side of "the curse" is the potential good luck for the Dodgers.  The last time Los Angeles started out a post season series with a win--the 1988 World Series.

Question numero 2:  Seriously, is Kimbo for real?

If it weren't for James Thompson's exploding ear trick and a controversial calling of the fight, Slice might've been done.  Even after the win, Kimbo collapsed to the canvas and didn't have enough in the tank to finish the post fight interview, interjecting, "I'm done" after two and a half questions.

Anything less than an early end (anything before decision) in the Shamrock fight will seriously hurt Slice's credibility.  Shamrock, on the other hand, is looking for his six straight loss...still one less than the Cubs.

Question three:  Did anyone see the race last Saturday where Curlin set the North American horse earnings record (more than 10 million)?

Me either...but I have bet on him.

Question four:  Is the Pac-10 weak or is it all of college football?

After a weekend of all but USC, Oregon St., and Oregon (who barely beat an unranked UNLV team) losing, came a weekend where Florida fell to Ole Miss, Fresno St. almost lost to a UCLA team that had been blown out the previous two weeks, Wisconsin lost to Michigan, and Wake lost to Navy.  Is there a truly dominating team this year?  (sorry for the extra question).  Bama looked legit and Oklahoma hasn't shown too many weaknesses yet.  I guess we'll have to see after another couple of weeks.

Question finale:  (As my friend pointed out) Why wasn't it until I saw coach Brian Billick on one of those genius Coor's Light post game conference commercials that I realized he was no longer the Raven's coach?

I mean, I'm glad that's how it came about because those commercials are hilarious.  I can't wait to see the new one with Lane Kiffin.  Let's wedge it!  Let's wedge it!
